What is an API?
API stands for Application Programming Interface. It’s the way that two pieces of software talk to one another. An oft-used analogy is that of a restaurant where the API is likened to the waiter or waitress that moves between you and the chef. You (the client) make a request. The waiter then relays this message to the chef (the server). And the waiter returns with a response and, all being well, the data.
